It has been a long standing tradition to honor the employee of the year from each Generations Healthcare Network/SIR Management client facilities during the holiday season. Three of the thirteen specially chosen employees were finalists in the Burton Behr Employee of the Year award ceremony, with Dorothy as the 1st runner up! Congratulations Dorothy.
Our employee of the year nominee is an RN that has been with us since 1995 and is currently our full time treatment nurse. She takes pride in her work and revels in seeing her patients become healthier and happier. She regularly works closely with the wound doctor in order to enact the proper treatment plan that will work best for each individual resident. She is always reading up on the best and most innovative ways to help expedite the healing process and is often incredibly successful with her treatments. It’s a regular occurrence to see her popping into the office to express her excitement over a wound being closed and healed.
Recently the facility implemented a training program for newly hired staff to teach them about wound prevention and care. She was immediately excited and supportive. She presented management with hand-outs she wanted to use and started the ball rolling. Our nominee has been monumental for this process as she not only performs the training, she also competencies the staff, and continues to re-educate them all while performing her regular daily duties. Since the launch of this training program in August, we have had two straight months with NO acquired wounds!!
Our nominee is well liked by her peers. She’s always willing to lend a hand. She jumps in when she sees another nurse struggling. She puts in extra hours whenever needed to make sure her patients are treated and also picks up shifts when we need her on the floor. She’s willing to come in early to start IV’s or stay late to help with a med pass. She is respected as a competent nurse and has a great rapport with residents and their families. They trust her ability and have confidence in her decisions regarding their treatment. She even helps to teach the families how to care for a wound when a short term resident discharges home. She lets them know she’s always available if they have any questions or concerns.
Our nominee for Employee of the Year is the complete package. She’s reliable, capable, friendly, and humble. She supports the philosophy of the building and helps to teach whenever she can. Any building would be lucky to have someone as passionate as her. We are proud of our employee of the year and so excited to present her this award as she’s more than deserving of it as she truly makes a difference in the lives of our residents.
